Aggregated Peptides

Meaning

Aggregated peptides are structures formed when individual peptide molecules associate with one another, leading to the formation of larger, often insoluble assemblies. This physical state change is a critical concern in pharmaceutical development and protein homeostasis, as it can significantly diminish the intended biological activity of the peptide. Clinically, the presence of these aggregates can reduce the therapeutic efficacy of a peptide drug and potentially trigger an unwanted immune response.
