Age Related Hyposomatotropism

Meaning

Age Related Hyposomatotropism is the clinical term for the physiological, progressive decline in the secretion of Growth Hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary gland that occurs with advancing chronological age. This state, often referred to as somatopause, represents a relative deficiency of growth hormone in older adults. The condition is characterized by a reduction in both the amplitude and frequency of the characteristic pulsatile GH release. This decline contributes significantly to numerous age-related alterations in body composition and metabolic function, impacting overall vitality.
