Adrenocorticotropic Hormone Derivatives

Meaning

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone derivatives are synthetic or modified peptide fragments that are structurally analogous to the native pituitary hormone, ACTH, and are designed to selectively activate specific melanocortin receptors. These compounds are investigated clinically for their therapeutic potential to influence the adrenal cortex and also for their neurobiological effects, including anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. They offer a more targeted approach to modulating the melanocortin system than the parent hormone itself.
