Adrenal Rhythms

Meaning

Adrenal rhythms describe the predictable, cyclical fluctuations in cortisol and DHEA secretion from the adrenal glands over a 24-hour period. These oscillations are fundamental to neuroendocrine regulation, orchestrating numerous physiological processes. Cortisol levels typically peak in the morning, gradually declining, and reaching their lowest point around midnight.
