Adrenal Gland Fatigue

Meaning

Adrenal gland fatigue is a non-medical term describing a constellation of generalized symptoms, including persistent exhaustion, body aches, sleep disturbances, and a diminished capacity to cope with stress. This concept posits that chronic physical, emotional, or psychological stress overtaxes the adrenal glands, resulting in a state of suboptimal cortisol production that is not severe enough to meet the criteria for Addison’s disease. Mainstream endocrinology does not recognize this as a distinct clinical entity, preferring the more precise diagnosis of HPA axis dysregulation or secondary adrenal insufficiency. It functions as a functional health model for chronic stress adaptation.
