Adrenal Function

Meaning

Adrenal function refers to physiological processes carried out by the adrenal glands, small endocrine organs atop each kidney. These glands produce hormones regulating metabolism, immune response, blood pressure, and stress adaptation. The cortex yields steroid hormones like cortisol, aldosterone, and androgens; the medulla secretes catecholamines such as adrenaline and noradrenaline.
