Adrenal Dysregulation

Meaning

Adrenal dysregulation refers to a state where the adrenal glands, small endocrine organs atop the kidneys, do not function optimally in producing and regulating their hormones, primarily cortisol and DHEA. This condition involves an imbalance in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, rather than a complete failure or overproduction, leading to a suboptimal stress response.
