Adrenal Dysfunction

Meaning

Adrenal dysfunction describes an impaired functional state of the adrenal glands, endocrine organs superior to the kidneys. This involves insufficient hormone production, as in adrenal insufficiency, or excessive secretion, typical of Cushing’s syndrome. Imbalances primarily affect cortisol, aldosterone, or DHEA, significantly influencing systemic physiological balance and overall health.
