Adaptive Resilience

Meaning

The physiological capacity of the endocrine and nervous systems to effectively adjust and maintain homeostasis when faced with internal or external stressors. This concept extends beyond simple recovery, representing a dynamic, anticipatory capacity to learn from and minimize future stress-induced hormonal dysregulation. A high degree of adaptive resilience indicates robust feedback loops within the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the gonadal axes, ensuring rapid return to an optimal hormonal setpoint.
