ABCB1 Transporter

Meaning

The ABCB1 transporter, also known as P-glycoprotein or MDR1, is an adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette (ABC) transporter protein primarily responsible for actively pumping a wide array of substrates, including many drugs and endogenous compounds, out of cells. This integral membrane protein plays a critical role in cellular detoxification and drug disposition throughout the body.
